Kalpataru - Sikkim University Digital Repository
Teesta-Indus Central Library of Sikkim University maintains a Digital Repository - "Kalpataru". The Kalpavriksha (Devanagari: कल्पवृक्ष), also known as Kalpadruma or Kalpapādapa, is a wish-fulfilling divine tree in Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. It is mentioned in Sanskrit literature from the earliest sources.

The Kalpavriksha originated during the Samudra manthan or "churning of the ocean" along with the Kamadhenu, the divine cow providing for all needs. The king of the gods, Indra, returned with this tree to his paradise.

Looking at the importance of knowledge generated through the churning of the time and efforts of the faculty and research scholars of the Sikkim University, the Kalpataru is best suitable word to described the "Knowelge" generated through the hard work organized using the Information Technology.

The Kalpataru is the Digital Repository of all the Theses, Dissertations, Books, Journal Articles, Book Chapters, Conference Papers any many more produced by the faculty and research scholars of the Sikkim University.

Kalpataru also contains special collections of North-East Region

Sikkim University Collection at Shodhganga
As per the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.PHIL./PH.D Degrees) Regulations, 2016, item no 13(1), it is mandetory to Deposit electronic copy of the thesis with INFLIBNET. It state that:
"Following the successful completion of the evaluation process and before the announcement of the award of the M.Phil./Ph.D. degree(s), the Institution concerned shall submit an electronic copy of the M.Phil. dissertation /Ph. D. thesis to the INFLIBNET, for hosting the same so as to make it accessible to all Institutions/Colleges"

Keeping in view of the above clause, it is mandetory for each student to submit electronic copy of their thesis to Digital Repository and thereafter submit to Sikkim University Collection at SHODHGANGA - INFLIBNET.
